The Future Self of Work—Gen Z and Career Identity
Career coaching is everywhere from digital platforms to personalised sessions. But why do so many people still feel stuck, lost, or emotionally unprepared when navigating change?
This in-person meetup brings together career professionals, self-guided transitioners, and coaches to ask a deeper question: What if the gap isn’t in the information, but in the connection between identity, emotion, and action?
We’ll gather to reflect on the unseen challenges of career change, share what’s working (and what’s not), and imagine a new kind of support system, one that listens before it directs, and meets people where they truly are.
Format:
A short WORK-SELF welcome on what we’re exploring as a reinvention community
Intros in small groups so you can meet others designing or navigating career transformation
Roundtable discussion guided by open prompts:
What parts of your career transition felt least supported?
How much of the challenge is tactical vs identity-based vs emotional?
A collaborative activity to map the emotional landscape of transition and reflect on overlooked needs
Collective insight round to share what surfaced across the group
Casual time to mingle, connect, and swap stories (wine, water, and curiosity encouraged)
Why Attend:
Connect with other career coaches, guidance professionals, and people in transition who are asking deeper questions about the future of work support
Share your own lived experience around what worked and didn’t during times of career uncertainty
Explore the emotional and identity-level gaps left by traditional coaching models, digital platforms, and well-meaning advice
Contribute to shaping more human-centred career tools by surfacing insights that will directly inform the WORK-SELF platform
Leave with practical reflections, new language for what you’re sensing, and a community that shares your care for the inner life of work
Alignment is momentum. Let’s build some together.
